Chthulhu himself may be eternal, but it's only been 25 years since the good folks at Chaosium first issued the excellent role-playing game Call of Cthulhu. Using an easy-to-learn gaming system that includes "sanity points" for every character, the game takes you inside a 1920s Lovecraftian adventure full of tentacles, alien technologies, monsters, colors from beyond space, buried New England secrets, and madmen who seek the eldrich book Necronomicon. The more you see, the less sane you become. Often the most successful campaigners are the ones who escape without going stark, raving mad – instead you just get OCD or paranoia. If you like roll-playing games, and I know you do, pick up a copy of the twenty-fifth anniversary edition of Call of Cthulhu for your pals. Now every night of Hannukkah can be filled with freaky adventures!
If you need more Cthulhu, just remember that Chaosium has a couple dozen modules, including ones that take you into Lovecraft's Dreamlands. Chaosium is also the outfit behind the awesome horror videogame Call of Cthulhu, which was one of last year's most beloved titles. And as if that wasn't cool enough, they also sell Miskatonic University t-shirts. I want one in a boy's small! Please, Chaosium, make me one in a small!
