As a blogger, RSS makes my life livable, and Vienna RSS makes my life great. A free, open source Mac application, Vienna stands out from the competition for any number of reasons, not least of which is its great three-paned interface and ability to import feeds from other programs.

It's best feature is its built-in WebKit-based browser. It's so good, in fact, that today I cut the cord. Vienna's my only browser. Read on to see why.

Vienna 2.1 made the big switch. Where before the web browser was there so that you could read stories that weren't fully syndicated by RSS, now it has an address bar. If you've got a web page open, you can hit cmd-L to travel around. It does everything you can handle in another browser. All it's missing are some of the add-ons from FireFox and Camino.

And it gets even better. Also with Vienna 2.1, a new "Blog with ecto" menu item got added in. Ecto, if you've never used it is an amazing $18 shareware blogging program that works with everything. It has made dealing with TypePad in unsupported browsers a thing of the past. I get Wysiwig, and I get it now. With Vienna and ecto, blogging is easier than it's ever been I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to start living the data junkie life.

I also have a pretty sad request. Does anyone out there know of a WIndows RSS program that's a quarter as good as Vienna? It's driving me crazy trying to keep up with my feeds at work when the UI is so crummy. Your help would be most appreciated.
