There's been pretty regular wailing and rending of garments in the Mac community about Microsoft's Office 2007 file formats, which, though based on the open XML standard, are totally incompatible with existing Mac versions of Office, as well as lots of things that can read open file formats.
Though hacks are necessary right now until MS gets out a plug-in for Office 2004 and finishes the next Mac Office suite, it appears that Apple might be working on it. UNEASYSilence has posted an image purporting to be from TextEdit for Leopard, offering full Word 2007 interoperability. Still, take it with a grain of salt. The fonts look a little weird, and this is hardly a back-breaking PhotoShop edit.
It is funny, though, isn't it? Such fakes are often a good way for companies to understand what their customers really need...
