Parallels, the hardest-working virtualization in show business, has just released Beta2 of its already venerable Parallels Desktop software. Key features of the program include:

  • USB 2.0 support
  • Full Virtual CD/DVD support, including burning and copy protection negotiation
  • Improved Coherence mode – Windows XP and Vista apps can launch inside OS X from the Dock and can be cmd-tabbed through like any other OS X app.
  • Better support for Boot Camp partitions

Most significantly is the addition of Parallels Transporter, which allows the program to import VMWare and Microsoft virtual machines into Parallels.
