Well, Gizmodo's Brian Lam was right – the iPhone did get announced this morning, as he predicted. And, as I expected, it's not the iPhone we have been waiting for, but instead a VoIP phone by Linksys, of all companies.

It's a nice-looking piece of gear, but it's not from Apple, so I don't particularly care. With that, the iPhone rumor mill is going to go silent until MacWorld. The buzz has been fun, but the holidays are upon us. As unlikely as it seemed that Apple would announce a major new product a week before Christmas, it's that much more unlikely that they'll do it even later.
