A high school teacher who was fired after administrators discovered that she'd acted in porn films is being urged by her lawyer to re-apply for her job, according to this Fox News story.

I'm wondering why she'd want to. We're still in the early days where people like this can be An Example, or The First To Go Public. In another ten years we'll all have our own celebrity sex tapes, our own archives of what we've done in virtual worlds or on webcam, and no one will care enough to fire anyone for it.

Why doesn't someone slap a lucrative book contract on her desk? She's already appeared on Dr. Phil. She's a great story. Troubled upbringing, went into porn, enlisted in the military and used her GI Bill to get through college and become a teacher.

Becoming an adult performer of some kind is now a career choice for many, not a default place to end up out of desperation. But it's not necessarily a lifetime career choice. I imagine a lot of former entertainers will be starting second careers outside of adult; how long are we going to punish them for that?
