It seems like I keep hearing about more sex videos becoming inadvertently public, sometimes with horrifying consequences.

An Indonesian lawmaker is being summoned for questioning by parliament because of a cell phone video of him having sex with a famous pop singer. And an Iranian soap opera star could be facing death by stoning, if it is proven that she is the woman in a particular sex video.

Fifteen years ago – oh, goodness, no, sixteen! – my lover and I made a sex tape. We erased it immediately after watching it play back on the camera though. Not because we imagined it would get out on the internet, but because I thought I looked fat.

We're just going to have to get used to the idea that if we want to record anything, everyone everywhere might see it someday. And oh well. And pray that those governments that punish sex with death lighten up fast.
