Forget targeting the fundamentalists of any faith; there's no sport in ignorance. And no stopping them either. The New Atheists, however, find themselves waging a age old battle against the wrong foe. The battle of science and religion is a farce: while science strives to tell humanity how things work, religion strives to inform us why. Science and religion together have always been allies of the human condition providing practical and spiritual solace to humanity in an unpredictable and violent universe. It may sound ironic coming from a devout Christian, but serious New Atheists really need to head back to college for a refresher course in Nietzsche 1301 if they really want to understand what they are dealing with. "Thus Spoke Zarathustra," anyone?
