A new article in the Journal of Media Psychology (which is a fascinating publication, by the way), says people with low self-esteem don't like mystery stories with surprise endings. Apparently, twists upset them -- they prefer to have their early suspicions confirmed.
I thought I liked surprise endings. But I'm sure I really don't. How could I be so stupid... stupid... stupid ...
