A moment I've been expecting for years has finally arrived: Someone finally figured out how to authorize songs and videos purchased on iTunes on more than five computers. And it's really, really easy.

On both Macs and Windows PCs, the authorization data lives in a hidden directory: /Users/Shared/SC Info/ on a Mac, and C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataApple ComputeriTunesSC Info. on Windows.

To pull the trick, you back up the directory, deauthorize a given computer and then restore the directory. This will reauthorize your computer without taking up one of your authorization slots.

Firblitz has created a quick AppleScript to do it automatically. Use it at your own risk, of course. And really don't expect Apple to help out if it trashes your iTunes account. It should also be noted that you won't be automatically authorized for any new purchases you make. But if you want music on every computer in a lab or office, it's hard to go wrong here.

Anyone mess around with it? What's been your experience?
