Though there are no further details, the claim itself is intriguing. Electric cars have been leased by volume manufacturers in the U.S., but not offered for sale, for reasons some find suspicious. Given the popularity of these things among those who actually got to drive them, it's no wonder someone's finally developing plans to wade in and throw them at the market.

Nissan will also offer gas-electric hybrids and modernized diesel cars, both of which offer improved fuel efficiency over standard gasoline-only vehicles.

The announcement lifts my sadness, just a little, at the destruction of Bombay's last electric tram.
