Too bad you missed Yaoi-Con last month, but now you can enjoy some amazing Yaoi art in the privacy of your own internets. Today is anime subcultures day at TOM, and so of course we want to bring you lots of Yaoi art and comics featuring romances between lovely, androgynous boys who sometimes have magic powers. But it's not gay or anything. It's written almost entirely by and for straight women. The popularity of Yaoi is definitive proof that women like to see hot boy-on-boy action just as much as boys like to see hot girl-on-girl. Yes, fangirls have their needs!

Although fan art usually gets a bad rap (not entirely without justification), Yaoi artists are truly a best of breed. Among the amazing illustrators dishing out fresh Yaoi fantasy at the San Francisco-based Yaio-Con was Kiriko Moth, whose drawings are breathtaking.

Like its generic cousin, slash fanfic, Yaoi is part of a proud tradition among fangirls. Today, it's busting out of the LiveJournal ghetto and into the future.
