I bet that you have found that the most dangerous response to the very interesting New Atheism article is not a bomb in the mail but rather the volume of correspondence.

Anyhow, here is another comment:

Those advocating an evangelical atheism seem to assume that people will say, „Oh, yes what you atheists say is really very logical. We will switch over.‰ Not at all! Atheism is and will be seen by many of the religious as the devil in action and deserving of the most violent responses possible. Thus, any in-your-face atheism will tend to promote wars and be counterproductive when it comes to saving the human race.

Moreover, promoting fights is quite unnecessary. The appeal to the religious should instead be to accept that while we may have been God‚s children, He would want us to grow up as all good children do, to take on adult responsibilities. To take on realistic responsibility for human survival and betterment should be the true bottom line. This goal can only be reached by cooperation between those of all persuasions, not by polarizing and distracting confrontations.
