Mark Liberman at Language Log notes that there were two explainable upticks in the use of the phrase "ding dong" across all blogs on June 7 and November 8 of this year. Yes, that's "ding dong" as in "the witch is dead." June 7 marked the death of terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. And, well, we all know what happened on November 8. This country is made up of diverse cultures and peoples, but when great things happen we all refer to the same strange fantasy movie made in the days before special effects.
