I made a quick stop at Plastic Surgery 2006, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' 75th annual meeting being held in San Francisco. The exhibit hall was full of items and images that are normal elements of a plastic surgeon's workday. I, on the other hand, was constantly asking: "What does that do?" Or averting my eyes from a video of body contouring. I also got shooed by a press-shy, apparently surgically-altered woman at the MJD Patient Communications booth. I wanted a photo of their mile-long display of pamphlets for every procedure you could imagine, but the rep wasn't so hot on media attention. The liposuction tool makers were more friendly. See their table full of the latest liposuction instruments below. It kind of reminds me of a harbor full of sailboats.
Below that is a display of breast implantation tools. The surgeon uses the gold-handled implement to internally lift the breast to make room for an implant.
