Hybrid vehicles are a good investment for people who like to flip their vehicles every few years as 3 of the top 10 vehicles in resale value included hybrid models.
According to Consumer Reports, the Toyota Prius had the highest resale value of any 2004 vehicle, and the Lexus RX/RX Hybrid and Civic/Civic Hybrid were also in the top 10. The report was bad news for American auto makers as the top 10 vehicles were a
ll imports, while the worst 10 vehicles in resale value included 5 Fords, 3 GM vehicles, and 2 Chryslers.
I'm not sure the resale value comparison would hold up for 5 years when hybrid batteries begin to approach their expected end of life, although I haven't heard many instances of batteries failing as yet.
