I just wanted to check in with our Day One totals for the First Annual Claire Danes / Apple / Cult of Mac Back to School Computer Challenge! (shortened to either FACD/A/CoMBtsCC or Mac to School Charity Challenge, if you're into the previty thing).
As you can see from the thermometer to the right, with your support, we are within $5,386 of fully funding eight extremely worthy Mac-donation projects at under-privileged schools in three major cities. I have nothing but awe and respect for my readers for responding so quickly and effectly to the challenge. We still have a long way to go, though, and it's only going to get harder from here. If you haven't donated, I urge you to do so. Bringing technology into the life of young people can really change who they are and where they're going.
With Macs, kids can learn how to really make movies, edit photos, record music, start Web sites, blog and podcast. They can communicate worldwide through video-conferencing. We can help them see the big picture. But only together, and only with your help. You rock, guys. Click on the green button and make a difference.
