Are you tired of being left out of the iPod dock club? Do you dream of having your beloved 'Pod standing proudly at attention while its song lists update, but are too skint to drop $30 for the privilege? Wait no longer.

Engadget points to the ingenuity of an anonymous iBook owner who had clearly had enough of such frustration, and responded by converting an old Apple accessories box, a universal docking connector, duct tape, the included iPod sync cable and a permanent black marker to make up for a noted deficiency in his (or her) life.

It looks pretty darn easy, so don't hesitate to give it a shot if you've got time. I think one made with the 5g iPod box (or the 2g nano one, for that matter) could be quite sharp.

Not literally, mind.
