Oh, what a beautiful morning. First the Apple Store temporarily goes down (nothing new; sorry, Chester), and now Apple apparently confirms that it will hold a media event at 10 a.m. next Tuesday, Sept. 12, at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, according to iLounge.

This all popped up as a digital invite from Apple, seen above, proclaimed, "It's Showtime!" The searchlights are a nice touch. No matter what actually gets announced here, Apple is deliberately leading people to believe they're ready to launch movie downloads through iTunes. We can only hope all the rest of it – an iPod with a screen large enough for movie-watching, a coffeemaker/iMac and revved-up MacBooks Pro – comes along for the ride.

And if this is all true, Apple has really gotten into holding their own media events instead of waiting for the right conference. But it works – I'm salivating.
