AppleInsider has run a report claiming that Apple is unable to keep up with rising MacBook demand:

"I ordered a MacBook over the weekend," said one customer. "The order was to be processed in 5-8 days. I just got an apology letter from Apple saying they would not be able to meet that order fulfillment deadline."

I haven't been able to determine how widespread the issue is, as the Apple Store is quoting 3-5 days to order a new MacBook right now, but given that the anecdotes in the AI story are about Apple missing its quoted ship dates, I don't consider that number a reliable indicator of the shipping backlog.

Anyone try to buy a MacBook lately who wasn't quoted by AI? How was the experience?
