Riding your bike to work is a fun and healthy way to start the day -- we here at Wired News do it often. But if you ride the same route every day, things can get a little boring.

Bikely is a community site that hopes to crack that cycle of dull drudgery. Bikely encourages users share their favorite virtual bike paths. You can go to the site and create your own routes or view the routes that other users have submitted. You can also download any routes as a GPX file -- I knew that handlebar-mounted GPS unit on my vintage Bianchi would come in handy some day!

The site is a great resource if you're unfamiliar with an area and you want to find the easiest/prettiest/most bike-worthy way from point A to point B. It's also good for sharing routes that are less congested with cars and pedestrians -- information that's more valuable than gold to cyclists.

Bikely also hosts a forum where users can discuss GPS hacks, ask for help and suggest features.

Somebody needs to convince Frank Schleck to tell the Bikely community how he got up the Aple D'Huez so damn fast. And isn't there a shortcut or something?
