After a quick look at their Museum we went into the factory itself.

As you will see from the pictures, they still assemble the cars the old fashioned way, by hand. I thought Morgan was the only maker that still did this.

The attention to detail of the builders towards the cars was almost magic.

The feeling of camaraderie among employees was also very evident and it is the only assembly plant I have heard of where people actually had a good time working.

What was most amazing is that cars as technologically advanced as the Murcielago and the Gallardo are still essentially hand made. These are cars featuring 10 and 12 cylinder engines with 520 and 640 hp, all wheel drive and the option of sequential shifting. That is simply incredible. The tour was definitely an eye opener to a fantastic company that often lies in the shadow of Ferrari.

This is unfair for a car that outperforms the Ferrari in every way. I am interested to see tomorrow what the Ferrari factory is like in comparison.
