Now even kids can mod their rigs! The new Hot Wheels Custom Car Kiosk at Manhattan's FAO Schwarz store cranks out miniature street racers on demand. For $20, your little toy genius can choose among models, paint jobs, wheels, and engines. The virtual guide is fun (pick the Hummer and a voice exclaims, "Sah-weeet!"). But the best part is the five-minute, CGI-laden video of the soldering, riveting, and painting of the vehicle. Too bad the final product, which arrives with a personalized certificate of ownership, shows more evidence of Mattel's manufacturing might than any custom job. - Jeff Howe
