Microsoft's new Virtual Earth project has taken the concept behind Google Earth one step further — street level views. Not only can you browse overhead maps of cities, but you can "put yourself in the driver's seat" and cruise around the streets using an innovative multiple split-screen interface.
To test is out, go to the Windows Live Virtual Earth technology preview site. Here's a screenshot of my virtual car tooling around the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco.
Microsoft's Virtual Earth has only mapped street-level views of downtown San Francisco and Seattle at this point. More cities to follow.
