Here's a new site for fans live music. It's called Sonicliving.com, and it allows you to view concert listings, keep track of your favorite bands' itineraries, and hook up with other users via the built-in social networking component.
Sonicliving.com is still in beta, so you will need an invitation to active an account. We've managed to take a peek inside and check out the fast, easy interface.
You start by selecting the city you live in, then you get a list of live music shows that you can sort by date, venue, artist, or popularity. If you're planning on attending a concert, you attach your name to it so other users know who's going to be there. The more people who say they're planning on attending a show, the more popular that show becomes.
Each artist's profile is linked to their page at the iTunes Music Store (if they have one) so you can check out their sound before you head to the show. Also, you can download time and date information for individual shows or an artist's entire tour to your iCal or .ica-compatible calendar software.
Browse user profiles, see what other people are digging (along with where and when), and hook up at the show to talk about music. Or beer. Or whatever it is people talk about at shows these days. We wouldn't know, mostly because, when we do go to shows, we spend the whole time at the back with our arms crossed. Maybe Sonicliving.com will give us the incentive to break that habit.
