No, I can't honestly see any of my Harley-minded friends actually swinging a leg over the saddle of this futuristic Yamaha. Not so much because of their staunch made-in-America mindset as because fuel efficiency goes against the very essence of everything Harley-Davidson stands for.
At this month's Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha will be showing off a few new concepts, including the Gen-Ryu prototype, which features a 600cc hybrid-electric engine that reportedly performs comparably to a big V-Twin. The Gen-Ryu also includes some cool safety features, such as a cornering light system that makes it easier to see around curves at night, a vehicle-distance warning system that will probably freak out when you're lane-splitting, and a voice navigation system like those we've seen in most luxury cars. Mount a pair of autocannons on the front of this baby, and I'll ride it away today.
