Keitai-crazy teens in Japan don't want to set their cell phones down for a Shibuya second. And they rarely have to, thanks to the infrared capabilities of most DoCoMo and Vodafone handsets. These phones now function as remote controls for both TVs and DVD players - and by year's end, Quixun will offer a peripheral that lets an IR-enabled keitai function as a computer keyboard and mouse. The $20 device connects to a PC via USB, then wirelessly receives thumb-text commands from a phone up to 30 feet away. Girls can type or move the cursor and transfer candid pics of that dreamy guy in study hall to their hard drives for posterity.
