In Japanese classrooms, teachers are now as adept at spotting thumb-texting as they are note-passing. So how's a girl supposed to get her gossip on? With a phonecam. Students scribble a few words the old-fashioned way, snap a quick pic when teacher's back is turned, and zap it to friends across the room or down the hall. Seventeen-year-olds Emi and Yomi (last names withheld to avoid detention) admit that they routinely pass digipic notes in class. What's in their missives? "You know, the usual," Yomi says. "'I hate my teacher,' or 'Minako is such a slut!'"
