Penn State environmental engineers have shown, for the first time, that a microbial fuel cell can generate electricity while cleaning wastewater. Here, Bruce E. Logan, the environmental engineering professor who directed the project, and his lead researcher, Hong Liu, work in their controlled-temperature lab.
