You thought Fantasia was a trip. Wait'll you see Destino, Disney's collaboration with Salvador Dalí. In 1946, Walt hired the Spanish painter to dream up a cartoon to accompany a Mexican ballad. He delivered 135 sketches, 15 paintings, and 18 seconds of footage, but the project was shelved. Five decades later, 25 artists at Walt Disney Studios in France - using traditional animation techniques and 3-D modeling - finally brought Dalí's melting clocks and shape-shifting ants to life. The seven-minute love story makes an Oscar bid at the New York Film Festival in October.
