Japanese Schoolgirl Watch
Short of sweaty bike rides and crowded trains, cheap transportation is hard to find in Tokyo. Suzuki's Choi Nori scooter - Japanese for "short rides" - solves the commuting problem for young women who can't afford a car but want to zip around town. Starting at 59,800 yen ($500), it's the cheapest moped on the market. The 2-hp, 49-cc engine redlines at 25 mph, making it ideal for new drivers. Available in six colors - including tangerine, lemon, and ice blue - the stylish ride even matches Prada book bags. According to 17-year-old student Mirai Ueda, "Choi Nori is like a bicycle, but not dorky." Her only complaint: helmet hair.
