SPLURGE
Gyration Mobile Keyboard
Gyrations wireless keyboard and mouse allow for amazing movement: The powerful RF receiver lets you work up to 100 feet away. The board weighs about 11½ pounds with batteries, and its only 1 inch thick, 1 foot wide, and 6 inches from top to bottom. It also sits comfortably on your lap. For the security conscious, the board transmits over eight 49-MHz channels and randomly assigns your work to one of 65,000 addresses.

$299 (with mouse), www.gyration.com.

BEST BUY
Logitech Cordless Elite Duo
If you want the most tricked-out wireless unit available, the Elite Duo line delivers. From a handy scroll wheel to a volume dial, the stylish board includes a mind-boggling array of multimedia and function keys. It has a range of about 6 feet and digitally encrypts all communication to its RF receiver. This is a true full-sizer with number pad. The only drag: Its cumbersome at 19 inches wide and 2¼ pounds with batteries.

$100 (with mouse), www.logitech.com.

OVERRATED
VersaPoint RF Wireless Keyboard
This one has an onboard mouse pointer that relies on pressure-sensitive technology the harder you press, the faster the cursor moves. Though it improves upon the ThinkPads little red joystick, its still awkward in practice. The boards RF connection can be dodgy, and changing the signal address requires manual adjustments on both the keyboard and receiver (an oddity). The dearth of multimedia options is disappointing.

$199, www.interlinkelectronics.com.
