PULSE
The general population may be a pious bunch 90 percent of Americans say they believe in God but Wired readers, too, find room for the Almighty in their worldview. Out of 1,932 subscribers polled, 49 percent believe in God; 18 percent waffle. And what about the power of prayer? A full 64 percent of those surveyed believe that a group of people praying for an ailing person, at a distance and unbeknownst to the patient, could have a healing effect (see "The Prayer Experiment," page 174).
