ELECTRIC WORD
If any game can survive the transition from console to celluloid, it's Resident Evil. The popular blast-and-outlast game is cinematic from the start, complete with shadowy sets, creepy camera angles, spooky sound effects, and horror movie-inspired flesh-eating zombies. Moreover, the film, which hit theaters March 15, has director Paul Anderson at the helm. Anderson, an avid gamer, created Mortal Kombat, the most enjoyable game-based movie to date. "It's not like trying to adapt Pac-Man or Pong," says Anderson. "These new games have characters and stories and John Woo-esque action. I think to myself, fuckin' hell, I've got my work cut out to make a movie better than this."
