"You'll show me yours." That's the tagline for artist Mark Daggett's screensaver, which transforms your PC's monitor into a vehicle for networked voyeurism.

Now 28,000 users strong, DeskSwap takes a picture of your screen (and all of its open windows) whenever your computer is idle and loads it to a central server. There, you can trade desktops with just one other user or select the Round Robin mode and receive a cycle of screen grabs.

I opted for the slide show. After leaving my PC for a few minutes, I entered a programmer's universe with a Star Wars -themed backdrop that read ANARCHY ONLINE. Next, a photo of Daggett, his wife, and two stuffed hippos appeared.

However, just as I was relishing these sneak peeks, I realized that my beach scene was being sent into the ether. Was my instant messenger up? What will happen to the code I was writing in my text editor? That's the addiction, and anxiety, this little app generates.
