A sequel teaser

This DVD pushes marketing to a new level. Though The Matrix Revisited sounds like the long-awaited sequel, there's no movie here - just more than 2½ hours of Matrix rough cuts, interviews, and rehearsals, plus hidden music and video.

But if Revisited is an elaborate "making of" production, it nevertheless outclasses the breed. There's extensive facetime with writer/director duo the Wachowski brothers and Laurence "Morpheus" Fishburne. Even Keanu Reeves - never the most versatile thespian - proves to be a natural in playing at least one role: himself.

Revisited also includes a sneak peak at animation stills, conceptual outlines, and conversations with the artists involved in Animatrix, an upcoming series of Matrix -inspired shorts from Japanese animators.

One disappointment: Although Revisited promises a behind-the-scenes look at the sequel, it delivers mere morsels.

Available at Blockbuster and a zillion other video outlets.
