The evolution of the stick figure goes way back. Cave dwellers scrawled it first, and startups have kept it going. Why the evergreen appeal? Steve de Brun, who designed Guru's stick logo in 1999, points to Carl Jung's praise of the universal symbol: Everyone gets it. Londonne Corder, spokesperson for early adopter Excite@Home, doesn't deny the stick's ubiquity: "They are everywhere."
