Rock stars have it all, yet they often whine about the grueling hours of recording sessions. Luckily for them (and wannabes with serious cash) an exclusive four-star hotel in West Hollywood now offers a tricked-out studio onsite. The Sunset Marquis, situated just off the Strip, has pampered showbiz folks since 1963. But recently, producer Jed Leiber turned the concrete structure off the hotel's garage into a state-of-the-art facility for recording albums, film scores, and soundtracks.

The four-room, soundproof space has catered to VIP artists, including Madonna's tour band and Ozzy Osbourne. The studio features, among other amenities, a 112-channel mixing console; two Pro-Tools digital-audio production systems; and Rocket Network, a file-sharing system that lets producers send audio samples to faraway colleagues.

"When you're in a studio, a few people are working, and everyone else is bored out of their minds," says Leiber. "Here, you can go for a swim or go up to your room in between sessions."

The Studio: Sunset Marquis, 1200 Alta Loma Road, West Hollywood, (800) 858 9758
