The Gist: Undercover Stenographer
$50 And Up
This innocuous-looking PC attachment records keystrokes without the help of any software and can be moved easily without a trace. Although packaged as a way for parents to monitor their kids' Internet, email, and chat room activity, the KEYKatcher is capable of much more - think bank codes and passwords.
Simply plug the less-than-2-inch-long dongle into a PC's keyboard port (no Mac version available) and then plug the keyboard cable into the dongle. After setting the device to record, every tap is stored in Flash RAM. An 8- or 32-Kbit dongle is available. Each byte saves one keystroke, making the 8K model's capacity about four typed pages.
To retrieve the information, pull the device off the computer you're monitoring and reattach it to your own. Type the password and a menu comes up, allowing you to read all the gathered intel.
