Given the popularity of features like the 50 Most Beautiful People, we know that lists sell magazines. Now Serge Becker and Lisa Ano's zine, List, cuts right to the semantic money shot.
In the tally of "The World's Top Gay Bachelor Pads" from List/01, you view Liberace's overdecorated Vegas castle and Thierry Mugler's almost furnitureless Parisian flop. You can also find literacy rates arranged by country, a roster of 500-plus phobias, and the entire guest list for Talk magazine's launch party. List/02, from December, presents 12 personalities photographed with their favorite brand-name products; highlighted manufacturers were invited to sponsor the magazine to the tune of $3,500 per full page.
Besides these experiments in capitalism, I liked the juxtaposition of everyday and esoteric minutiae. And with the writings of Charles Bukowski and Luc Sante thrown in, you've got a true hipster read.
