Dr. Brain: Action Reaction uses the same software engine as Unreal, the acclaimed first-person gorefest, to deliver a nonviolent educational game. You have been captured by a bad-guy coalition called SPORE (Sinister People Organized Really Efficiently) and, with help from Dr. Brain, you must escape the nefarious group's secret base to stop its plans for world domination. Along the way, you have to think through 45 missions with perilous 3-D traps, passages, puzzles, and pitfalls that match the visual sophistication of current shoot-whatever-moves entertainment. Nobody actually dies in the process of puzzling through the game, though players can be temporarily stunned or even captured. The principles of geometry, physics, logic, and mechanics are the keys to victory, along with a few nifty gadgets.

In the world of "nutritious" edutainment titles (many well-meaning but clueless parents expect kids to take digital castor oil like Fun With the Periodic Table), Action Reaction hits learning software with a much-needed railgun jolt. This is a solid, thinking-person's action game, rated for ages 10 and up, that will delight kids and adults alike.
