AOL Going MP3-Crazy

America Online is hooking up with pioneering MP3 record label Emusic.com to sell downloadable tunes on three sites. By Jennifer Sullivan.

You've got MP3.

AOL, fat with online music offerings, will be getting fatter after Monday's announcement that it's hooking up with the pioneering MP3 record label Emusic.

That means the online giant will have even more clout as a music distribution center, adding MP3 files to its inventory of players and radio stations.

Emusic (EMUS) will pay AOL a fee for the three-year marketing and promotional deal, plus a commission for each sale. AOL also has the option of buying a stake in Emusic. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.
