In the eyes of Ken Wirt, CEO and founder of a company planning to give MP3.com a run for its money, the same change is happening now in the music industry.
"The Internet is going to do to the music space what cable did to television," Wirt said. "The Internet is going to open up distribution like cable did."
With Riffage.com, a new music-distribution site Wirt unwrapped Monday, the former vice president of corporate marketing for Diamond Multimedia -- makers of the Rio MP3 music player -- has a plan to be the Avis to MP3.com's Hertz, at least for starters.
