Aduna - The World (Tinder)
Diallo, a talented singer/guitarist, was born in Guinea-Conakry but lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he leads an Afro-pop band that's twice been nominated for a world-music Juno (Canada's Grammy). Diallo grew up with the music of Cape Verde, Senegal, Cameroon, and Cuba - influences that give his style a bright cosmopolitan feel. And his playing is subtle on both acoustic and electric guitar.
Highlights include "Gogha" - a percussive guitar that recalls the kalimba (thumb piano); "Dewe," a tune that combines the rhythms of black and Arabic Africa; and "Debo," a guitar showcase that couples bluesy phrasing with flamenco flourishes.
