German software-maker SAP on Monday introduced a new software package for brick-and-mortar retailers that helps them move merchandise off the shelves.
SAP said its SAP Retail Store will be the first self-contained software package that lets individual retail stores track every element of their business. For example, store managers would be able to track customer orders, watch warehouse inventories, process procurement orders from their main offices or manufacturers, and analyze local buying patterns so stores could respond quickly.
"For the first time, retail stores will have ... an unprecedented level of autonomy and flexibility to meet changing customer requirements," said Dr. Peter Zencke, SAP executive board member.
SAP Retail Store will be available in the third quarter.
