Analyzer Takes Notoriety to the Bank

The Israeli teen who says he cracked US Defense Department computer systems has become a computer company's poster boy. Slogan: 'To go far, you need the best equipment.'

Ehud Tenebaum, the Israeli cracker who claims to have broken into hundreds of non-classified US Defense Department computer systems, is now pitching computers.

Tenebaum, who goes by the name Analyzer, appeared Tuesday in a full-page advertisement for Newron computers, made by the Israeli company EIM, the Associated Press reports.

In the ad, the teen gazes out at the reader, alongside a slogan that says "To go far, you need the best equipment."

Tenebaum reportedly received EIM's latest-model computer, the Newron Play Station, as compensation for appearing in the ad. The machine sells for about $2,000. Last month, Israeli authorities confiscated his computer equipment and placed him and two unnamed associates under house arrest.

Since that incident, which was prompted by information supplied by the FBI and other US authorities, Tenebaum has been praised by Israel's prime minister, and offered numerous paid interviews with US television networks, as well as movie and book deals.
