Computers have long since invaded every facet of our lives, and Brother International's Kitchen Assistant is far from the first chip-based device to land in our kitchens. But it may be the cutest. This kitten-sized computer weighs in at 2 pounds and stands all of 6 inches tall.
You can scroll through its existing file of all-American menus, or type in your own for storage and future use. Once the menu and number of diners has been selected, print your shopping list and check nutritional information.
Best of all, you can select from an existing list to tell the Kitchen Assistant what you've got in your pantry, and it will suggest recipes that won't require a trip to the store. But this assistant betrays a cultural bias in its ingredient choices - there's no snake, cat, or dog included, though fish, beef, and pork are. Looks like I may have to go to the store after all.
