Seinfeld Celeb Excited by Computers, TV

Actor Jason Alexander, soon to be freed from his job, is exploring projects driven by interactivity. Also: Universal Studios to launch its own special effects division for animation.

After this final Seinfeld season wraps up, actor Jason Alexander says he will avoid going before the cameras for two years, to allow his famous George television persona time to die from the public mind. To fill its place Alexander is looking into development projects that will explore the marriage of computers and television, Variety reports. The actor says he is driven by ideas for shows that would have global impact, such as an "electronic-town-meetings-issue-related series."

Universal Effect: Universal Studios has announced its own special effects division, Universal Pictures Animation & Visual Effects, aimed at producing animated feature films. The division will be focused primarily on "using non-traditional, computer-generated technology." Universal is interested in expanding the audience for animated films, and hopes that the division will help two of its films already in production, Frankenstein, and Alien Pet Store, to do just that.
