House Committee Publications to Go Online

You'll be able to get information at the same time members of Congress and lobbyists get it.

Congress adopted a proposal Tuesday to make committee publications available on the Internet as part of a first-day reform package of the 105th Congress.

"Under the changes we made, Congress will no longer conduct its business behind closed doors. Instead, with the click of a mouse, our constituents will be able to have more access to their elected representatives and find out what Congress is working on," said Representative Rick White (R-Washington), who sponsored the proposal.

The plan, which was the result of a year-long study of the House committee structure, calls for public access of committee publications ranging from current staff directories to committee and subcommittee bill prints - at the same time members of Congress and lobbyists in Washington, DC, can get the information.
