Earth-moving equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. is testing new machine designs by operating them in cyberspace. Using WorldToolKit software developed by Sense8, operators sit on a platform situated within a large cube. Stereo images are displayed on the cube's walls, allowing the operator to assess the view from the cab and test the maneuverability of the virtual vehicle.
